Featured Video: NICU babies celebrate the Fourth of July
Because they didn’t get to experience barbecues and fireworks while in the hospital, babies in the neonatal intensive care units at Advocate Children’s Hospital celebrated the 4th of July early this year.
Nurses and child life specialists helped parents dress up their little ones and decorate their surroundings with American flags and other festive decorations to celebrate their first Independence Day. A photo shoot was held to capture the Independence Day memories.
The babies are at the hospital’s two main campuses in northwest suburban Park Ridge and southwest suburban Oak Lawn near Chicago. Each campus features a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), which provides the highest level of care for the tiniest newborns
