35 percent of women experience symptoms of this kind of disorder
Pelvic health issues are common among women, but many don’t seek treatment.
“If symptoms are lasting more than two or three days or you have used over-the-counter remedies for that amount of time, chances are this is a problem that needs expert advice,” says Dr. Allan Ruby, an OB/GYN at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill.
“I have found many patients using over-the-counter medications inappropriately. Many of these remedies are useful but, unfortunately, the marketing doesn’t really give the consumer the ability to make the best choice,” Dr. Ruby says.
