Health care heroes: Fuel to keep going

The 4Hope Unit Council at Advocate Children’s Hospital recently provided Advocate Christ Medical Center COVID units with care baskets. The team, led by Bridget Sheehy and Amy Tilleman, donated nearly $900 to purchase protein shakes, beverages and snacks.

They had originally planned to put a few small baskets together, but with donations from nurses, nursing assistants, secretaries, physicians, staff and family members, the team received so many donations they were able to get many more treats than they originally planned.

Amy and Bridget say it’s most important for staff on COVID units to feel support from all other units, including those who are not actively taking care of COVID patients.

“To be honest, the baskets are a small token of support and gratitude for what the staff is doing on COVID units, and we were glad we could help somewhat” Bridget says.
